As all my projects begin, I sketched down a few concepts, for this poster, I started out liking my first idea.
I took the physical meaning of ‘LEAP’ into my work, starting with two near symmetrical buildings with a gap between them, taking up about half the page, which would later be transformed to resemble the keyboard of a piano. Placing the word ‘LEAP’ between the buildings so that the person would be leaping over it, and the dynamic of it being squished between the two buildings made it feel a part of the scene and not just words on a page. The font I chose for most of the words is called ‘Forte’ which aligns with a musical theme the poster was leaning towards, while the font of ‘LEAP’ was different so that it stood out, tall and strong, against the rest of it. The colours were carefully chosen from Dawson College’s school colours, a gradient of these colours used to emphasize a changing of states as one leaps forward.
Finally, the ‘sketchy’ person leaping from building to building is designed loosely so that is may resemble any student in one of the ALC profiles, as they carry their work with them, keeping some things to bring to the future, and leaving some behind, as they leap through their classes trying out all the different skills ALC profiles offer to them.
